Summary: As we travel, in this 3rd Part, through the pages of Deuteronomy, once again you will notice that some talks may commence with a news item upon which some comment is made. Some of these will appear to be very dated. However, we have taken the decision to leave these in, rather than omit them. In most cases they will show how public opinion and especially church teaching has changed, sadly, this is usually for the worst! However, they certainly indicate that we are now living in the "Last Days" before the imminent Rapture of the Church, for those true followers of Jesus Christ. Please read 2 Timothy 3. 1-9. We trust that you may be encouraged as you read and follow our Saviour on our journey through this world. We would be grateful for your prayers as we upload these Podcasts week by week. We should realise what other churches teach. The Roman Catholic Church, which claims infallibility in its Councils and theological teachings, clearly and emphatically denies the biblical gospel. In this talk we consider the clean and unclean birds and other insects and flying animals. Not so clear cut as with some of the animals. However, where there was doubt, many Jews apparently just cut out any doubtful practice. Just like we should also do - “abstain from all appearance of evil” 1 Thes 5.22. An interesting note is added here that a young goat was not to be boiled in its mother's milk. There was apparently a heathen practice to do this with associated pagan blessing rituals for crops end the like, so this was not to be copied. The milk is intended as nourishment to the young of the animals, just as the Word of God is intended to nourish young believers (1 Pet. 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:), We need to nourish young believers in the Milk of the Word, not engulf them in it! We should be careful how we use the Scriptures, for young believers need the nourishment and encouragement of God's Word. If we use the Word against them in a harsh, critical way, is this like boiling a kid in its mother's milk? keywords:
